McBride's Pub originated out of the Monahan, Drabble & Sherman Funeral Home's 9 car garage. As the funeral business changed, so did the need for the many vehicles it once housed so we started thinking about other uses of the area. In 2005, brothers Mark and Bob Russell visited Ballyjamesduff, Cavan County, Ireland. Their travels took them to McBride's Pub, a small local establishment. Behind the pub, was McBride's Funeral Home and, as it turned out, the 2 establishments were owned by 2 brothers. When the idea for the pub came up, the name seemed natural, hence McBride's Pub. The pictures from the pub are on the wall there as well as our photo gallery on this site.
Restaurateur Haruki Kibe has been defining Japanese food in Rhode Island for 17 years at his restaurant, Haruki. Now, in the space that was Maverick's in Wayland Square, Kibe has opened a second restaurant that elevates Japanese dining in Rhode Island to four-star status. In addition to a squad of sushi chefs at the sushi bar, he has hired the formidable Etsuko Kurosaka in the kitchen. Born in Japan, Kurosaka spent the last three years in California and many of her dishes reflect the varied flavors there -- a Japanese-style chile relleno stuffed with crabmeat, thinly sliced sirloin rolled with cheese and asparagus, carpaccio-style salmon and tuna, with Japanese salsa and Balsamic dressing. The decor is upscale and minimalist, yet comfortable, with a chi-chi bar in one room and a sleek, curved sushi bar lining one side of the dining area. Walls are bathed in soft greens and blues, with a large, round, etched-glass window as a focal point.
The Salted Slate is an agri-driven American restaurant with global influences. Cooking food is often a bigger endeavor than we tend to think. Whether we are harvesting blackberries or a lamb, these products have taken years to develop and grow. It’s my job to highlight and draw out the best qualities of every ingredient that comes through our doors while utilizing every part of them.
Pasta Beach uses only Pasta “De Cecco” and fresh egg pasta. We serve our pasta “Al Dente”. You may also substitute whole wheat pasta.
